You could try to bring up the word attorney in the mix. This happened with my sister. Well it wasnt with mold but I would bring it up about not being safe. I would also mention that you have spoken with attorney about the situation but best of luck.

If they are fixing it, I think you would have trouble getting out of the lease. JMO. I wouldn't like my chances in Court with that fact scenario.
However, with the possible medical condition of your ol lady and if you only have a few more months on the lease, I'd contact whoever managers the building and try to get a reduction or get out of it on amicable terms without paying anymore than you have. You may have a lawyer friend who can write this type of letter for you.
