I'm not very seasoned fishing in Lake P. We usually run out to Borgne but tomorrow we would like to launch in Manchac and run to the Causeway to try some specks.

Anyone have any pointers/reports? I know a lot of people like to do slow trawls with Rat-L-Traps but our trolling motor is out and IDK if I bump the motor into drive if we would outrun the fish (24' bayboat with a 225 Mercury)

What about bumping plastics off the bottom? How far out should I be searchign for fish. I'll be closer to the northside but I can run anywhere reasonable.

Thanks in advance for any input

Idle speed, should be fine. I'd try a coupe different weights to see which works best. I had little trolling weights in front of the traps and we did well trolling the sea wall and trestles in a 29' twin Vee.

Also, wave report says 2-3 foot waves with wind out of the East at 15-18 mph.

Would not fish Lake P/Causeway in these conditions...fish the marsh instead.

Try 4 and 8 mile hump. Bump plastics on the bottom. You have to really know how to fish the causeway. First couple of trips I couldn't get a bite while my buddy was tearing them up. When you bump be sure to always make contact with the bottom. Why are you launching at manchac? I would launch in madisonville. The have a bass tourney in manchac tomorrow and the ramp is sure to be full.

Lake Rd was closed last week. It wasn't because of high water. One of my neighbors said he thought the bridge where T Rivers used to be was out, but I'm not sure.

Could launch at Marina del Ray or next to the 22 bridge.

I drove to the end of Lake Road yesterday. It is open, but the boat ramp seemed to be closed for some reason. The sheriff's department had a boat there and was writing a ticket to a group in a boat for some reason. This was at the end of the boat launch. The water is extremely muddy. The bridge by the old T-Rivers has been replaced.

Just aim for schools, troll around when you spot one.

Use split tail with red or plain lead head, a shrimp, or a small-medium size golden spoon.

How'd y'all do?
Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. We launch either Madisonville or Bonnabel launch depending on which day the wind is blowing. Troll Rattletraps right at 2 mph. We use a drift sock purchased at Academy for like $39 to keep the speed we want. Let out about 100 yards of line and troll close to the pilings.
Also do good on diving mirolures with pink squid trailers.
