I did a similar thing. My gf was an extremely competitive dancer and they were in Houston for a competition. I had the front lobby call her down for an unexpected package and when she arrived there were a dozen tulips there from me with a note saying "Prom?". Needles to say, it worked.

We don't care so much about valentine's day. My sig other's birthday is two days later and I'd much rather celebrate that. This year, I'll be with my girls anyways.

I had a classic teen movie moment in high school. I spilled out all of my feelings with a romantic speech in a romantic location with romantic music in the background with the perfect amount of wind in front of many of our friends. It was the classic climax to a teen movie romance only, she said no. FML
