That would be an error on your part... if anything, way underrated by the younger generation (but I get why), but history has them where they belong...

I'm not a spring (pardon the pun) chicken, and I do like "The Boss". I just feel (much like U2) perhaps even a great band - I'm not denying that - but some of the praise and kudos get overblown. I still go back to my favorite Springsteen song is Blinded By the Light...but the Mannfred Mann version. I think that says it all, right there.

I always thought Bob Seger, in particular, pulled off that brand of Rock and Roll better, and to significantly less acclaim.

re: Most Underrated Band of All Time?

Fair play... I'll admit that I grew up absolutely hating him.. since I was pretty close minded and was into punk rock and more college bands...

But I remember a friend I met in college (89-90 or so) was a huge fan and had all his records... Thats where I really came across his older output and fell in love with it... especially, this era... And then seeing him live just cemented it... nothing better and I am definitely more inclined to see shows in 100 capacity dumps...

1973: The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle
1975: Born to Run
1978: Darkness on the Edge of Town
1980: The River
1982: Nebraska

I still say Big Star for the "of all time" status...

but if we're talking in general, there are so so many... but this was a criminally underrated one in the 90s..

Eleventh Dream Day - Makin' Like a Rug

Eleventh Dream Day - Honeyslide

A major motion picture was made about the last concert (at least it was going to be the last concert), by a major filmmaker, though he wasn't quite the legend he would become later.

I love The Band - Dixie and The Weight are 2 of my favorite songs, particularly the versions from The Last Waltz, but I'm failing to see how they were underrated.

Seen him three times live. Love his music. My 86yr old father has him as his all time fave. Shoot out the Lights gets regular play in my house.

re: Most Underrated Band of All Time?

Maybe so. Its just that I've come across a number of "casual" classic rock listeners (I use that term loosely.) who have never even heard of the band. It blows my mind every time. It seems to me that they have nowhere near the following of the other great bands of that era (Beatles, Stones, Creedence, etc).

Im in my mid 20s just for reference. I'm still upset with myself that I didnt get to see Levon perform before he passed. RIP
