I kige this. I don't care what anyone else makes. If my job didn't pay enough I wouldn't have accepted it. And if I want to make more (which I do in the long run) I'll just make myself as valuable as possible. I'm still relatively young and a lot of the higherups are older. They'll retire long before I do and my goal is to move up the ladder as spots become available.

Look I've got 15 years of work experience - after about 4 I decided if you can't guess within 15% of someone else's salary you truly don't deserve a raise

Retarded. As an employer I pay people all sorts of differing rates for various reasons. All valid. The main reason... one guy made a deal, and the other made his.

This. Liberals say we can't judge gays. What they do in their bedroom is no one else's business. We can't stop a woman from having an abortion. Right to privacy. But... paychecks... no privacy. We all get to see it, so we can split it "fairly". Some sick mofos.

I'd be interested in seeing whether Mikulski and DeLauro practice equal pay for their staffers.

If you want to be paid more, make yurself more valuable to the company by doing more. If that doesn't work or you don't like the pay find another job. Its a free country (I think) you can work for whomever wants to hire you. The employer doesn't "stick" you in a job; you do that to yourself.

Golly, a whole 15 years? That's a neat parlor trick you've picked up. Something tells me it is probably far less accurate than you think it is.

You are confusing PAY with pay DISPARITY. Thats the reality of the working world today. Two people graduate college with same degree same school.. Lets say CSC Person A travels to San Jose and jumps from firm to firm for 3 years and drives his salary up to 100k. Person B goes to work for a local company. After 5 years person B is still at that company and person A comes home and goes to work for the same company. The pay that person A will get will be substantially higher than person B in almost every case. Thats just the way it is. There are exceptions but most people dont work for companies big enough to get promoted by just doing the time. Performance and Loyalty are a thing of the past. Pay should be related to performance and experience and hopefully loyalty to the company. Disparity in pay should be related to differences in position and experience and the ability to retain a good employee. Employees that negotiate a better salary shouldnt be penalized because another employee doesnt care. Thats why I said "nor should it"

Every company I've ever worked at in Human Resources had a policy that employee compensation was based on various factors and should not be shared with fellow employees. Disparity in compensation depends on a number of factors - experience, education, job market at time of hire - but some people are just better negotiators than others.
