Cool breakdown I just saw on reddit LINK
Along with the dolphins, Saints are the most evenly split team in the league as far as payouts... Which is disturbing.

If only pay = performance... wait, that's illegal.

nice find, what's really needed is to transpose the 2013 numbers to see where things stand now. Of course ya gotta expect some big number changes from Ellis gone along with several other likely cut or renegotiated players.

Well, this kinda throws a wrinkle into the whole "brees handcuffed the team" argument, huh? Also supports the notion that some defensive players are gonna have to take some pay cuts? Perhaps Loomis knows what hes doing after all?

Got some bad contracts in there...

brees contract/cap hit (10.4m) and his production is fine with me, best money we spent. colston (3.3m) and evans (3.4m) came cheap this year.
ellis (7.3m), smith (5m), and vilma (4.9m) contract
would you prefer the 3 offensive pieces or the 3 defensive pieces...? exactly=(

he is, it's for 2012. As said, interesting but not so relevant as soon as the season ends
HERE you can peruse the contracts by years

Will Smith's salary makes my eyes burn!

that's just the salary. click on the players to see the full cap hit.
Smith, Harper, & Vilma this year for just $30.3million of cap hit. That's close to 1/4 of the entire payroll. Definitely had to be backloaded deals knowing it would come to cut or re-dos.

c'mon, ya can do better than that.
try this...
It will cost $13.2million of cap to cut Smith, Harper, & Vilma

would you give up draft picks to move them, or would you prefer to cut, save, but still cost us?
btw. oakland = 10m special teams. haha

Be splain wut dis mean
Doubt Smith or Vilma fit anymore even if they did new deals at vet minimum
I anticipate a restructure for Harper. I'd prefer cutting him over keeping him at his current deal- $15mil of cap hit the next two years.
