Irrelevant to the point of it. If they own US debt and the Fed maintains a ZIRP policy for a half a decade while going through multiple rounds of QE, all of a sudden the Chinese inflating their currency becomes nearly justifiable.
The US is the largest currency manipulator in the world, and their only rival is really Japan. It's not even close either.

what are they doing, if not keeping theirs artificially cheap compared to others, hampering the trade of foreign assets? and why would they do this to all currencies instead of just US$, if it was simply to counter our monetary expansions?

It's simply not true 90. China has raised their interest rates multiple times over the past decade.
