Looks really good, but we've already blown our dining out budget for the month

It'll probably be delicious, but I don't think I'll make this one.

Had a great time last night and thanks to Jay Ducote for a nice dinner. Blend did a nice job as well with the pop up.

The empanadas were delicious, but they kept serving them and I was nearly full after the first course! The Malbec was good

Picada: Lamb Carpaccio, Duck Prosciutto, Select Cheeses, Olives, Pickled Pears

This meat and cheese plate was as good as any. the pickled pears were nice to cool off my mouth after the spice in the Duck Prosciutto.

Locro: Hearty Beef Stew with Gold Potatoes, Yams, Corn, and More
Vino: Aduentus Mediterraneo

The stew was good, but more resembled a chili. Jay used andouille in addition to beef. He said he could not find the sausage he wanted in town. Wine was good.

Pescador: Cobia, Shrimp, Bay Scallop, and Avocado Ceviche with a Shot of Bloody Mary Gazpacho
Vino: Alamos Torrontes

I must say that I was a little disappointed in this course. The cerviche was warm and a little under marinated for my taste. The shot of Gazpacho on the side was not good but I'm not a huge Gazpacho fan. Wine was interesting but I don't think I would buy it.

Vaca: Beef Short Ribs, Chimichurri, Sopa Paraguaya, Grilled Vegetable and Chili Ratatouille
Vino: Alamos Red Blend

The Short Ribs were very nice. They had a tangy glaze, were tender and the chimichurri sauce added a nice touch of spice. Unfortunately, the Sopa was cold but had good flavor anyway. I really like this wine course.

The flan was light and not too sweet. The bubbles were good.

Overall, a good meal.

Alamos

I tend to avoid this brand. didnt like their malbec or torrontes. But, I'll have to give the blend a shot.

Looks good. I wish I could have gone but I'm on a strict diet that I'll already be breaking for Mardi Gras.

The 2010 blend and malbec are pretty good. The 2011 versions of both suck.

I agree about Alamos, small player in the vast world of good Argentine value wines.

Think you can find it at the Canal Place Theater in New Orleans for $45/bottle. What a deal!
