re: catch phrases you're sick of..

My friends just started using "weaksauce" and I fricking hate it. Also, "dumpster fire" was really bad on the SEC rant for awhile

Rapesauce is still the best sauce-related phrase.

I couldn't agree more! I literally cringe when I hear people say this. I try to explain to people how pointless this phrase is all the time. If you are saying "it is what it is" that person or group of people understand that it is what it is. It's just worthless language and I hate it.

You sound stupid FWIW. It's a phrase that has a specific meaning that is used in a specific situation. We all understand that it is a redundant phrase grammatically, but there are plenty of phrases or "old sayings" that dont really make all that much sense but we all know what they mean, or at least the ones of us with functioning brain cells do.

When you are unhappy with a situation but there isnt anything you can do to change it, then it is what it is. No way to make it what it isn't.

Like I currently do not like the headache I have at the moment, but it is being caused by medication I just started and headache medicine wont touch it. It is what it is.

However there are things that it doesnt apply to, like being a man. There was a time when the phrase "it is what is is" applied there, but now there are surgeries that can change that, so it no longer applies.

I use the phrase sometimes, but not in excess. I see a lot of phrases in here that are pretty common but arent really overly used. I think the people complaining about them just want to seem more intelligent than others since they can obviously express themselves more eloquently or whatever.

But by all means, please continue to hold yourself in such high regard. It gives people like me that could really give a shite less something to laugh at.

Well, that's pretty easy and I can tell everything you need to know about it with 3 words.

It fricking sucks.

My Old Lady.

Why would you ever refer to your SO in that way? We all know how much women loved to be called old.

this.

Ya know (insert player name) would be much better out in space.

What fricking player ever in the history of football wasn't better in the wide open field with no one to tackle him??

If we're doing sports: trickeration.

WTF? That's not even a word. I hate when ESPN makes up words.

Also, sports talk hosts use the worst words ever because they think the words make them sound smarter. Dear God, you are a sports host. On the radio. Quit using Applicable every other word when you are talking about the draft or a fricking defense. And quit stressing every fricking syllable.

You wasted a whole bunch of words on that and should have just stuck with your following quote:

While I may not agree with your opinion on the matter, I must at least give you props on its delivery.

Bravo

Ever notice how people that say this usually say it about a different song every time?

I never understood how that was an improvement over "you know", which wins the terseness battle hands down.

I am assuming this stands for "You only live once".

I use that phrase sometimes but until this thread I dont think I have ever seen "YOLO" used anywhere. Maybe I just havent been paying attention.
