How is that a Boom? Lucas sucked as a writer.....see above.

I was being sarcastic. Lucas not being involved is the primary reason I'm interested.

I think the Disney SW installments will have a Pirates of the Carribean tone. For good or worse...

This sounds like a story of a guy wondering through space getting drunk with his pal Han Solo while trying to pick up the pieces of his broken life.

How can that be a bad movie?

I know the story line is solid (my oldest brother read all of the expanded universe novels). However, so is the story line for the prequels

I would have rather seen them do a movie/series of movies set around the time of Knights of the Old Republic, but I doubt many share that opinion

This x1,000,000. I would have loved to see Revan vs Malek on the big screen. Also, Mandalore and the Star Forge

It doesn't matter that Lucas suck at writing dialog, he created the original story. Fan boys like yourself decided that it shouldn't end and made up tons of pointless crap. You took someone's ingenious idea and used it as way to let your promote your lackluster creativity.

Okay this sounds like a pretty interesting movie.

Really it can't get worse than the prequels. They may not be as good as the originals, but I doubt they'll blow chunks.

Yeah, the temple has already been defiled, people. Just about anything will be an improvement and salvage the prequels, which were horrid.

The story is whatever you want it to be.

What's so funny BHOY!?

The story line for the prequels was solid. They were just executed horribly. I did still somehow enjoy episode III, though.

Me too. It would be a big change, but the story is so much more compelling IMO.

Actually, according to Lucas, it was originally supposed to be a 9 part series. He also approved the early novels, like Tim Zahn's Thrawn trilogy.

Look, Texas Chainsaw Massacre part whatever is out in the theaters right now. The amount of steaming garbage that Hollywood puts out on a weekly basis is staggering. I am happy to look forward to and go see the next Star Wars movie. I will look forward to it and read about it and wonder what it is about until it comes out. Then, I will pay 10 bucks to go see it. I will sit through the whole thing and will buy popcorn and a drink.

I'm not doing that for Texas Chainsaw Massacre part 23.

So, it already doesn't suck.

Beyond that, it is just a movie and I will walk out with nothing really unchanged in my life except that I paid 20 bucks in total to be entertained. And, that will be good enough.

Lucas isn't directing. I am happy already.

I am optimistic Disney can get some level of redemption for the rediculous pile of moist steamy cat shite that the prequels were. As long as they don't film an old Carrie Fisher taking a sloppy deuce on some Jawas and stretch that over three hours I will be ok with the improved effort.

I hope JJ and the writers take a risk and make the next film darker than the first six.

No. Lucas tarnished it with the prequels and wisely saved it by putting it in better hands. I'm uber excited for the new trilogy. You internet nerds are ridiculous sometimes.

Not a star wars fan but how is it such a good trilogy if it continues to suck every time they make a new one.

The godfather 3 sucked does that make the first two any less great?

Too answer the OP question, must likely these movies will blow. There is almost no way to make a new Star Wars movie that will please the fanbase.

the prequels were so underwhelming that these will look at least "good" by comparison.

the stories will be better, the characters will be more developed and their will be clear protagonists and motives with legitimate writers/directors on board.

Star Wars at best are great fun pop corn movies...I hope we get back to that and have some characters worth caring about

No matter what the new movies will never live up to the lofty expectations set by the original trilogy.I hope it is good and will probably enjoy seeing it at least once because I love Star Wars but if it sucks, I will move on. It in no way tarnishes the originals for me.

Maybe they will redo the prequels, JJ you're my only hope

Seriously though, if they going to make new movies I think they should leave the old characters behind. Knights of the Republic sounds good to me.
