I am pretty sure I saw Ron Paul and Gary Johnson on the same stage as Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich.
A third party candidate has to rise through one of the two major primaries. Once the primaries are decided, supporting a third party guy is futile if your goal is to have them actually win the election.
