No doubt, it would be an open shut case and rightfully so. I was thinking JC, Calvary and Evangel will become the lepers of the Louisiana football moving forward. Their only game now might be playing a national schedule. The privates don't want their arse either.
The LHSAA became a very weak organization on Friday.
I think the key is the privates breaking away and slowly bringing in the publics over time and reuniting the association. The kicker is a member can be voted out in the by laws and of course no legislature. They really piss me off by trying to get involved in this mess. The politards are going to make a hard situation worse.

look for Legislation to be pushed which takes away funding from public schools that exclude other public-"select enrollment" schools. At least this is what I'm hearing from people "in the know."

Meh, I'm of the opinion the whole charter school business is just a bubble that will go away in the long term. How on earth with a model of public schools which funnel all of the good public students to quasi private institutions hold up? Every Nola and BR regular public school will receive F grades and the schools will have to be reintegrated. The only kids left at the regular publics will be non-motivated kids, many with learning disabilities and character issues.

With any luck, the process will take long enough to ensure at least one generation semi-scholars before people intent on destroying progress stick their grubby little hands in the pie.
ETA: I do think that Coursey is right about needing to look at the feasibility of the ISD model in Louisiana. It's already starting in some places (I think that's how Zachary and Central work).

I'm not saying it's good or bad, I'm saying how the current system will reel itself back in, like it always does. Everyone wants change, but they never think the change through.
FWIW, I believe that the public school system should break off at 10th grade and they should turn the traditional public schools into tech and vocational schools. Why pretend these kids are all going to college? They are entering the workforce as soon as they graduate HS if not earlier, so build a better worker.

I get that, but if we were smart enough (we as a cultural aggregate are obviously not) we would implement a plan to identify potential jobs at age 15 and start apprenticeship programs for the kids.
Now THAT would screw up some sports hahah.

St. Tammany is different from the Southshore. It's like north and west LA where, because there isn't the socio-economic problems of the urban public schools, doesn't share the same conflicts. This is really why so many publics in New Orleans didn't want to split. Public schools know they need the private schools for their programs to survive. Privates bring infrastructure for sports, money for games, etc.

I have heard that a well respected principal will propose..
1. Counting or Classifying select schools differently.
2. creating an option in football super class.
3. doing away with attendance zones completely.
or just walking away from the LHSAA... might be a lot more publics willing to walk....than people realize.

I think most NOLA public schools walk away, and that may start a contagion. I hope that all schools that voted for the proposition don't get included in the new association.

It will be interesting to see the most media coverage. Fourth Down on 4, Friday Nite Football, WWL870, do you really think that they will do a 50%/50% split with the coverage between select & non-select? 75%/25% or will it be even more slanted?
