I get what you're trying to imply, but it's just not there. He answered the question with "Hell no." He does not like the name Pelicans. The rest of his statement only says that he wanted Voodoo or Brass. It doesn't say that that is the reason he didn't like Pelicans. The punctuation is lacking either way.
Just deal with the fact that a lot of people upon first hearing it make a fart face. I think you are trying to minimize that people don't generally like it. We understand that we're going to have to deal with it over time, but don't act like we need to smile while eat this shite sandwich. People are going to vent, and as soon as you come to realize that, you will be a much more content person.

Jester, I have to agree man. It's a little overboard at this point and has gotten very tiring.

Don't like the name but it will prob grow on everyone over time. So many better names out there...Pelicans just comes across as soft.
Would like to have seen the team colors be black n gold. No one in the league has those.

If you would have asked this same question when the name Pelicans was still up in the air, you would have gotten a lot more no's
Now that it's a done deal, the New Orleans mentality no longer allows them to dislike the name or just agree that it's lame and could have been much better. Just because it's New Orleans, the New Orleanians must like it.

Why?
Because most of whining complaining ninnies here know nothing about brands and are focused on the wrong thing (e.g. yeah, the haaaardest name, representing `me' and `my culture I'm reading about right now' or some other nonsense). The others are whining complaining ninnies who know something but can't but whine and complain for some reason.
Enjoy the team you have. If you can't, ask someone in Sacramento for advice.
