you act like there aren't thousands upon thousands of message boards that require a certain number of posts prior to being able to start your own thread.

Yes, and they suck for it.

Many have a low post count requirement (like 25 posts)

If you set any kinda of post count limitations, people will just spam the board with worthless posts to unlock privileges.

cost/benefit analysis of this idea is overall detrimental to board quality IMO.

what about requiring the first 10 posts to occur on the Help Board? I've seen this on other boards.

If you want to destroy one of the best boards on the site, this would be one way to do it

I think only allowing threads to be started in the Help Board prior to reaching some milestone would be a good idea. Requiring a user to have 10 posts in the Help Board would at least force them to see the Help Board and might keep some of the dumb questions over here.
That would ruin the best board on this site.

They should make a noob board

People would spam stupid shite like "germans" "IN" "PIIHB" etc more often just to get their post counts up.

Many other forums have something like this...

Basically, just a board to say hi.

It's serves a purpose but is still kind of a waste of space.

Now if the admins moved shitty threads to a wasteland of a board like this, that could be funny.

Would you just save them time and start your threads there?

Can you imagine the quality of the first 1,000 posts of any new member?

It's bad enough already.

Why on earth would you need to have 10 posts on the help board? That would do nothing but clutter the frick out of the help board with useless posts.
