Well said. But you can always fresh water fish and a drive to Lafayette or wherever you get fresh off the boat seafood down in south La. is only a few hours.
I fish plenty, but fresh bass doesn't hold a candle to fresh snapper, tuna, aj, grouper. Dammit making myself hungry again. I appreciate the other restaurent rec's. Only one I'll disagree with you on is Shane's. I really don't like that place. What is/where is Bear's? I am now interested. I have also heard Market 104 is pretty slammin' and the central american place on Cross is supposed to be good too.

Yeah I have to agree. The Village is just not worth it. The steaks just weren't very good. Maybe for drinks and appetizers at the bar, but for a whole dinner I will pass in the future.

I hear ya. Guess you just have to suck that one up.

I like Shane's for the boiled crawfish, meat pies and sometimes decent fried catfish.

To each her own. I went there for the wife's birthday last year and had a miserable experience. Seated in the bar even though I made reservations a week ahead and were told we would have a "special table" for her birthday. Then the waiter told me that their best cab was probably "too expensive for you" and then recommended a cheaper wine. The wife got the Kobe NY Strip (seared, almost blue, the way Kobe is supposed to be cooked) and it was mediocre at best, and my lamb was dry and over cooked. I could go on but it just pisses me off because it ruined what should have been a nice night for the wife.

I'm with you I'm not a fan of the Village at all. Service and atmosphere are very poor and the food is overpriced. Would not recommend to anyone.

Go to maxwells on a Thursday and they usually have fresh tuna, grouper, snapper, and others. I agree that the village isn't that good - try the Mabry House for an upscale meal. Bella Fresca or Chianti's are both much better than the Village or the Steakhouse.

Hilton for the win. Horseshoe only if it's a freebie. These Shreveport haters don't know what they are talking about.
