I agree with you on the mixed feelings. I was surprised they didn't leave Spartacus more open-ended. But I am ok with him being shown dead and others having made it because of him. However, they fricked up with killing Gannicus. No reason for him to go and especially that bitch way from Caesar.
How is it that Crassux and Caesar are on level ground with gladiators? That was bullshite and annoyed me a bit. I know this wasn't held to perfect history, but it takes away respect from how bad arse Spartacus and Gannicus were as gladiators.
Overall, this show was an amazing ride and I am sad it's over. I could totally see a spinoff with Caesar, but he was such a punk bitch that I'm not sure I would watch it. Maybe if there is one, it involves Agron instead?
I look forward to watching this series all over again down the line.

crassus and ceaser just had more might. it was pretty clear that in a 1-1 battle they wouldnt have taken spartacus or gannicus.
btw, anyone find it funny that the 2 gay dudes lived? all 3 of the badass gladiators died but the gay dudes lived. must have been gay writers.

This. Ceasar couldn't beat Gannicus 1 on 1. He hid behind his army and they boxed him in.

And Crassus was only able to stand toe-to-toe with Spartacus briefly, after Spartacus had already been cut several times cutting trough all of Crassus' guards. Spartacus would killed him if those pussies hadn't speared him behind Tiberious style.

I think I said out loud "aww shite" when Gannicus took on Ceasar, knowing good and well it wouldn't end how I wanted it to.

The show went through great lengths to show that Crassus was on equal ground with the gladiators. Hell he killed his trainer (who was a gladiator trainor similar to Onomaenus?) in training. With that said, Spartacus was still able to defeat him.
Caesar did not directly kill any of the important gladiators. He mainly held his own and allowed the sheer numbers in his army to help him out.
