Both were awful the Seattle-Green Bay directly affected the ending while the Braves-Cards was a playoff game

braves vs cards wasnt even that bad, not mention them not having the benifit of replay. im assuming you think it was a terrible call because you are a braves fan

Seahawks--Packers

You could make the argument that it was a legit infield fly if you go by the rulebook. Though there was no excuse for them making the call so late

It was a terrible call because the ball landed 250 feet from home.

+1

A ball hit to the outfield, by definition, isn't an in-field fly.

not even close to 250, not saying it was a good call but not near as bad as the packers game

This. The only part about that play that was wrong was that he called it late.

It was not an ordinary effort.

it would have been, had there not been a miscommunication with the outfielder...again, i disagree with the timing in which the ump called it but its not even close to the terrible call against the pack

As a former umpire (highschool) it was a bad call compounded by the fact it was late.

And yes, I am a Braves fan.

Debatable, I mean the SS stops moving way before the ball hit the ground so he was there in plenty of time. The fact that it's even debatable makes it not nearly as bad as the Seattle call.

Way before?

I am thinking slightly before.

But I do think the replacements were worse.

Yea way before is probably a bit extreme. But the point was, it's not like it would have been a spectacular running catch or anything. He was definitely underneath it in plenty of time

I don't know if that is ordinary effort or not, but a ball hit that far into the outfield is never ruled an infield fly rule. The umpires have to use commonsense.
