We have joint accounts.
I knew the wife had substantial student debt going in, so no surprise there.
Works well for us, but we are OT poor so not much to monitor.

Actions speak louder than words. When my wife and I were engaged she had a bad day and went shopping. I lost it and made her bring everything back, then consoled her on her bad day. She has had her moments since but I give her a hard time each time and the occurrences have gotten fewer and farther between.

I'm obsessed with checking our joint account. When it comes to investments and such I wouldn't even know where to look. Need to get in the know about that.

for some. Not for others.
We share all of our finances, and it works for us. But I make 75% of the income in the relationship. So I pay for everything. And I can buy whatever I want since I make all the cash. Generally we discuss it first tho.

If your looking for a roomate then keep accounts separate, if wanting a marriage combine is only way.
