UNLV officials revealed plans for a new 60,000-seat stadium on Friday -- UNLV's average attendance in seven home games this season was 15,208 -- and it's a doozy. The stadium would include a 100-yard-long video screen.

if built, the stadium projected to cost $800 million to build will be used for more than hosting UNLV home games. Much like Cowboys Stadium the goal would be to host other football games, including a possible Mountain West Conference Championship Game should the conference expand to 12 teams. It's also possible a new bowl game will be held at the stadium.

right, because if a kid wasn't already impressed with las Vegas, a big tv should do the trick.

I'm sure the city of Las Vegas could put it to good use. Concerts, other entertainment events, football, and more. It could be of value.

I want to see that built.

Looks awesome.

I am guessing Nevada and Las Vegas(who are both broke) will help foot the bill. Can't wait to see a $50 tax hike on my hotel bill the next time I'm in LV.

Yeah but the thing about Vegas is a college kid, most are age 17-21 or so. Really could only get 1 year of fun.

And most parents are not fans of their child living a half mile off strip. Lil Jonny, in Las Vegas, by himself, with "those" people.

But they are asking the casinos, and the visitors authority to kick in $125 million of the cost. So it shouldn't cost us any more in taxes.

Sadly, we wouldn't come close to filling it as a neutral venue.

With that said, this would be sweet. A retractable roof would do wonders. It's hot as shite there through October and then nights get real cold in November. I am a 4.5 hour drive/cheap flight from Vegas so any big sporting event would be doable for me.

That's the only reason I could see building a 60,000 seat football stadium, attempting to attract an NFL team. Outside of the Final Four and a Bowl game it won't ever come close to filling to capacity.

I'm sure they could find other ways to host those same events without an $800 million stadium
