This might sound crazy and I am sure the food was bad but I can remember this as best meal ever.
In the early 90's i was in the army in Panama. Was in the damn deep jungle for a month and a half. We ate MRE's and c'rats the entire time.
When we came back to the base camp there was a taco truck parked on the road. I got three tacos (unknown meat) and a cerveza. Most memorable meal i have ever had. Not sure if it was because of the food, beer or the fact it ran through me so quick! It was so tasty and would eat it again.

How often the most memorable meals don't have as much to do with the food. Has to do with being with people you love in great places and having fun.
After getting divorced I took my daughter to New Orleans for
Easter. Didn't have time to go see family.
We wound up eating Easter dinner at a restaurant who's name I forget, but the chef had a restaurant in Baton Rouge next to Ralph and Kacoo's but it got shut down.
Anyway, the service was great and they treated my 12 year old like an adult and she thought she was a big deal.
The food was awesome although I can't remember what I had except the creme Brûlée was awesome.
I'd be willing to bet most people's most memorable meal happened at somebody's dinner table or in a backyard

Ramsay's The London at West Hollywood for a complete dining experience. Took a tour of the kitchen after the meal. Ran into Ramsay on the way out. Small talk and pics.
August and Cochon are in the conversation as well. August is responsible for the moment a great wine pairing made perfect sense to me. It was the tipping point.

Father and I were there for business. I was 19 and already stoaked, first away trip for work. Pretty sure I licked the plate. Not the most expensive meal we've ever eaten together, but best by far.

Best meal I ever had was in Venice, Italy at a little out-of-the-way square called Campo De Santa Giustina Detto De Barbaria.
The food was authentic and fresh. The company was great. The atmosphere was indescribably wonderful.

The restaurant overlooking the escarpment in the north camp (Sinamatella) at Hwange Wildlife Park in Zimbabwe.
Meat pies (probably Impala meat) and Tonic Water.

Cant remember the name but it was on the Amalfi Coast. Basically a little shack on a cliff. Scenery was incredible and they just kept bringing out food.

My dad and his friends compete professionally in BBQ events and I would put some of the better pieces from one of their whole hogs right up there as some of the best food I have ever had. I have had some bbq that is mind blowingly good.

Peristyle, New Years Eve in 2004/2005. Several amazing courses paired with a wine flight. Simply perfect.

Probably a tapas style meal from Zaytinya in DC. I'm not sure if it was truly the best but it's the most fresh in my mind.
