3-4 lb boneless pork loin
2 1/2 cups ketchup
1 cup cider vinegar
3/4 or 1 cup of brown sugar (I forgot, but I'll check when I get home)
onion powder
garlic powder
1/2 BBQ of your choice (optional)
hot sauce to taste
tablespoon of Strawberry jelly
1/2 pack of McCormick pulled pork seasoning (optional)

I may be forgetting an ingredient or 2. I'll update it when I get home

Post that up, I'm interested.

Looks like you basically making Bar Be Que sauce and cooking meat in the same pot at the same time.

I use "Rebel Rub" which comes from the Rebel Butcher company in Flowood, MS. Olive oil and rub down heavy.

Then, smoke it in my Weber Smokey Mountain smoker with pecan for 5 hours (at least 165 degrees). Then put it in the crock pot on "keep warm" for another 6 hours or so. Touch it with a fork and it will fall apart.

These fabulous sandwiches feature pork shoulder that is slow cooked in a scrumptious sauce made with Campbell's® French Onion Soup, ketchup, vinegar and brown sugar, to serve on sandwich buns.
Directions:
1. Heat the oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the roast and cook until it’s well browned on all sides.
2. Stir the soup, ketchup, vinegar and brown sugar in a 5-quart slow cooker. Add the roast and turn to coat with the soup mixture.
3. Cover and cook on LOW 8 to 10 hours* or until the meat is fork-tender.
4. Remove the roast from the cooker to a cutting board and let it stand for 10 minutes. Using 2 forks, shred the pork. Return the shredded pork to the cooker.
5. Divide the pork and sauce mixture among the rolls.
TIP: *Or on HIGH 4 to 5 hr.

That wasn't directed at you. I guess technically you are right, but it is like someone asking if you want a coke (not a pop) but really meaning a soft drink of any kind.

Just fwiw:

Coke is to pop/soda, what crock pot is to slow cooker.

Crock Pot is a trademarked brand name, slow cooker is the type of device a crock pot is.

So you're pretty much completely wrong.

That is exactly the point I was trying to make. So again, GFY.

You were saying that a slow cooker isn't a crock pot, and people shouldn't use the term slow cooker to mean crock pot. Hence why you posted about hickory chips in a slow cooker thread.

A slow cooker isn't a smoker, it's a generic name for a crock pot.

GFY.

It is called a crock pot not a slow cooker. Now, GFY.

I don't see how I could misconstrue this, you lay it out pretty clearly.

A slow cooker is a crock pot. You're saying it's not.

That is not what I am saying you delirious frick. I am saying it is Like calling all sodas a coke or calling all private jets a learjet. Items are typically referred to by the most popular version of said product, i.e. coke. I am done.

Is there reason to cook to this temp, when 165* is considered done? (no flame)

Yes. You will not be able to pull it at 165* only slice it. If you want to have pulled pork you needto go to anywhere between 195-205. You will also hit a plateau around the 165 mark and your temp may not move for an hour. Just trust it, that is all the tough fibers being broken down into delicious goodness.

Have you ever put the BBQ sauce before while it cooks or do you always wait until after its done to add the BBQ sauce?

Occasionally, my wife will put a small rack of ribs in the slow cook/crock pot before she leaves for work in the AM, and she adds the Sweet Baby Ray's from the start.

Although you don't get that smoked quality, they are fall-off-the-bone tender and delicious
