I am far from a far right guy. But I think the reason the far right gets so excited about it has to do with the fact that only guys like Jones and his ilk say ANYTHING to counter the false hoods and the misstatement of facts. Look, everytime someone gets on TV and speaks of the absolute carnage and destruction of a .223 round, I know they have done no research and need to not be forming the debate on guns. I believe Peirs said last night that a .223 assault rifle has no use in hunting because it would tear a deer to shreds. No one on the panel corrected him, or pointed out what the caliber was actually used for in the law abiding gun ownership society. And even if someone did, no one would listen. So the only satisfaction the right gets is folks like Jones screaming at folks like Peirs.

There's only one way to deal with gun grabbers.
quote:
If you are a person who is actively lobbying a government agency, be it Local, State, or Federal to restrict the ownership of firearms by lawful citizens of the United States you are endangering me as an individual, my family, my community, and, by extension, my country. In 2013 the tool most readily used to protect the individual from violence, oppression and tyranny is the firearm. Hundreds of years ago, governments worldwide outlawed the possession of swords by the peasant to ensure they paid their taxes and obeyed whichever ruler sat in power. The issue is the same; disarm the peasants so they can be ruled. When you actively seek to disarm me you are deliberately attempting to subjugate me and put my family in mortal jeopardy. That fact makes you my enemy. The Bill of Rights of the Constitution of the United States did not create the rights of man; it simply enumerated and affirmed them. When you seek to nullify or circumvent the Constitution of the United States as well as the Constitutions of each individual State, you are my enemy.

That is not what he said. He said there is no reason to go hunting with a 30 round clip because that would tear a deer to shreds.

Does he think you have to fire all 30 rounds at once? Does he think anyone has a rifle capable of doing that?

There are some good arguments like the fact that there are so many out there and ways to convert that a ban won't stop those with evil intent. That a ban will do to AR what the bans on alcohol and drugs did. That we cant compare the US to other countries because there are already hundreds of millions of guns out there. That we do use them for our own protection such as a chaotic Katrina event. And that under Heller a ban is unconstitutional. But this business of arguing tyranny and dictators and that stupid ad with Obama's kids really do more harm than good.

Agreed. America knows absolutely nothing about tyranny. The 2nd Amendment was written by people who were clinging to their bibles and guns.

and no one goes hunting with a 30 round either, once again, hyperbole. people think that if a deer was shot with a 22 caliber round 30 times it would be a pile of bloody flesh all over the woods are ignorant, and once again should not be framing the gun control argument.

My problem with Piers is why the frick is he so concerned with our constitution? I think the Brits and Aussies are stupid as hell, but I don't go there and go on a crusade to change them. That's their problem. I respect the fact that they are responsible for their country. He has nothing vested in our consitution. If it got ripped to shreds and things go to hell here he can just pack up and go back home to Britain. We can't do that, I have a vested interest in keeping what remains of that document intact.

How hard is it to comprehend that guns dont shoot without someone pulling the trigger? The INDIVIDUAL causes the death, not the gun. If I put a gun on my desk each day when I get to work, will it kill someone if its never touched by anyone?

Only if its a scary black one. And ignore Burt. He just trolls for the enjoyment of it. He has no life so he throws ignorant comments out there so he can pass time laughing at the heated responses. I assume hes special needs or something so be nice.

I get what you are saying, unfortunately one of the fellas on the panel defended it as a normal hunting practice. So that didn't help. I know plenty of hunters, and not a single one of them sits on the deer stand with an AR-15 with a 30 round clip. I don't have a dog in this fight either way, I just thought it was silly to defend an assault rifle as though it were a sport hunting rifle.

You know you can say this 1000 times and it doesn't make it more right than the first time you say it. And you can copy and post emails again and again with quotes attributed to the wrong people or taken out of context or whatever you like. And I can quote the actual Constitution. Section 1 Article 8 gives Congress the power "To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions." Congress then passed two Militia Acts in 1792 granting the president the authority of the president to call out the militias Now at the time, we did not have a standing army. The Militia was to be used for the common defense. The 2nd was to ensure the Militia would be armed. Your argument is that the founders gave Congress and then the president authority to call out the militia to repel against invasions and rebellion, then gave the people the right to guns to bring about rebellion that they gave Congress and the President the authority to use the militia to suppress. We just have a difference of opinion. But I can tell you that you can have all the assault weapons you want and they won't do a lick of good against the power of the government. The power of rebellion comes from support from the people unless you're some banana republic. I can also tell you that if you're trying to win support from the middle of the road folks, suggesting you need your guns to rebel against the government is not a good way to win support.

Me neither. The ones I know use 30 round magazines.
