Saban did not promote Fisher until the very end of the process. If you remember, Saban promoted Houston Nutt.

I'm not pumping up his win over Clemson. I just think it is stupid that lots of people on here are calling him overrated. The guy is recruiting really well, he knows how to put together a great coaching staff, and he is winning football games.

Thats great, it doesn't make up for losing to an unranked team.

LSU beat South Carolin and Texas A&M and people want Les fired for losing to Clemson. Imagine if he lost to North Carolina State.

Sorry we didn't get to play in the ACC and play a team that had no business in a bowl game not named after car care company

Dude, it's college football. It can happen to any team on any Saturday.

I am not saying Jimbo is a better coach than LSU. I am only addressing the contention that Jimbo is overrated as a head coach.

You don't always get to choose who you play.

Jumbo- had that offense that could churn out the yards in 2006. You remember 1.2 ypc against Auburn. Hell neaux. I agree he is probably a good QB coach. Better than fat arse and craigthorp combined.

The guy has as much talent as any team, but can't consistently win the ACC. I would say he is overrated.

No but you can do better than 4-5 vs ranked teams.

He is not that good...lacked experience to carry a program like LSU.

He went to FSU under the wings of Bobby Bowden.

Well one we had a coach already, and two he is overated as frick. FSU would be 8-4 in the SEC.

Jimbo had plenty of detractors when he was here.

And I am saying he isn't a great coach, moron. This is the first year he has put together a decent season. Had he only been at FSU for 3 years I would say that this season is on par, but he has been at FSU with significant insight and influence there since 2008. He didn't walk in blind at FSU and become head coach.

I agree. Jimbo was always overrated and most in BR thought he was ok but not special. I think he's probably a good QB coach but his OC skills never amazed me. Of course it was always hard to really tell bc Saban and Miles may have forced him to be conservative.

Are you serious? He is a great coach. Why do you people think winning a National Title is so easy?

lolwut???

so Fisher is a great head coach, yet he hasn't won a NC because it's very hard to do so???

while Miles, who isn't a great head coach according to this board, has won a NC because he's at LSU where it is simple to win a NC right???

I watched the most talented collection of offensive players to don a LSU uniform, with a QB who had the strongest arm anyone's ever seen, flounder against AU (refs did not help), Florida, a bad Ole Miss, and look ordinary against Tenn and a bad Alabama. The offense had many flashes of brilliance and would blow out the creampuffs but there were too many times where it bogged down.
