I'd put this in the blowout category. Not nearly as close as the score suggests. and its not like 3 TDs is close.

How could last year's game not be considered a blowout? LSU crossed the 50 for 1 play all game. It has to be the worst offensive showing of any bowl game in history...or maybe the best defensive showing? At any rate, it was completely one-sided.

Almost put it in the blowout category.

As bad as the offense was, the defense kept them in the game until Trent broke that run.

Also the OSU-Miami game was 2OTs.

Good list, but I'd swap these two. LSU sadly never had a chance in that game.

Meanwhile, the 2010 game was a one possession game in the 4th quarter and Texas had more total yards than Alabama.

True but it's the only shutout in the BCS NCG. Even though it was 21-0 it felt like 56-0. I fell asleep at halftime...awful to watch.

Yes it was, and I still think Texas would have won if McCoy wouldn't have gotten hurt. Gilbert was a deer in headlights but still almost brought them back.

You're telling me

TK421, I honestly couldn't remember much about the Bama-Texas game. In retrospect that was probably a more exciting game than LSU-Bama.

Two games in which the score doesn't tell the story. The LSU win felt much bigger, but they just couldn't put it away. The FSU game was actually close until Warrick scored that TD. Huge play that changed the game.

Yeah, the 2011 game is slotted right. Bama didn't even go up 15-0 until there was 30 seconds left in the third quarter. The game-icing TD was with 4:30 left. LSU still was in the game up to that point. A late TD for LSU instead of Bama, and it's like the reverse of the 2003 game for LSU: a lopsided game with a deceptively close score.

Admittedly, there was some bias in ranking the LSU game ahead of the FSU one.

I just looked up the stats out of curiosity, I had no idea Texas had more total yards.

I just remember watching the game and thinking: holy shite, Texas might win in the fourth quarter.

Tennessee/FSU was an awful game.

I don't care that it was ultimately a 6 point game. Florida State was not winning that game with Marcus Outzen at QB. Period.

To be "in a game" you actually have to move the ball on offense and at least threaten to score. The only way you had any chance of scoring was a kick return, fumble return or pick 6. Unless of course you could kick a 70 yd FG Give it up...the game was a joke.

Along the same line, I am curious to know if this game set a record for fewest offensive plays on the opponent's side of the 50. I'm certain this has never happened in a bowl game but just wondered the last time it happened in a regular season game.

Like I said, if Colt hadn't gone down, Texas would have won.

LSU's offense had started slow in their previous 2 games. Big plays from Mathieu got us back in those games. At the time, it wasn't outside the realm of possibility that something could spark the team.
