draft QBs until one pans out.

I don't understand teams that ride out terrible young QBs for years of mediocrity

Before the new CBA, it would kill a team to pick a QB high and suck. Cap killer. Now, not so much.

Yeah I was taking that into consideration as well

Obviously you can't draft a top 5 QB in successive years if you are giving them obscene contracts

I think you are seeing it already. Shanahan drafted 2 QB's in the first 3 rounds. Seahawks drafted a QB in the 3rd round despite having just signed Matt Flynn to a big contract. Browns drafted Weeden just a couple of years after drafted Colt McCoy. I expect you will see it more and more often.

And two out of those three worked out this season, and we'll probably see more of that this draft, even with the weaker class.

Don't forget Carolina drafted Newton #1 after drafting Clausen in the 2nd round the year prior.

It will start to happen. Gabbert is probably done in Jax, whoever Cleveland's coach is might draft a guy to compete with Weeden. Bad contracts/decisions killed the Jets, Cardinals, Bills, and Chiefs.

With the way QB's are coming into the league and succeeding I think you will see a lot of teams cut bait if the QB doesn't perform within 2 years.

A shitty O-line can kill a good QB (see Stafford his first few years in the league).

A shitty defense can kill a team despite a good QB (see Saints this year).

QB is incredibly important, but there are other pieces required and wasting pick after pick on a QB will lead to bigger issues.
