Possible SPOILERS*** 1-4 Books 1-2 Season show.
Hey everyone I have been reading ASOIAF series for a while and I loved books 1,2,3... and 4 is NOT bad... but it's slower. It seems like a lot of the protagonists are dying and it seems like a lot of the feuds have been resolved... not all of them of course (winter is coming) zombies, if I'm not mistaken Mance Raider is dead.. I can't remember.
I loved the show as well... but does anyone think that it's even worth watching... I worry it will be cancelled or ruined in the future due to the fact that Martin may not get the last two books out in time. Took him 11 years to get out the last two, now some say there are reasons for this such as, "He had most of the book done before he had to scrap it and separate the characters out etc..." I believe book three has been the best, and I also believe that season 3-4 (splitting the book into 2 seasons of tv show) will be the best... unless The Winds of Winter and the last book are up there with his first three.
Does anyone else feel that the books are no longer worth reading and the show won't be worth watching because it is coming off the rails (after ASOS)... I worry about the future of the show and books in general. I love them and I don't feel what I described above, I just read that from a lot of people online.
Are books 4 and 5 worth finishing? Do you think Martin will tie it all up in the end and make it a wonderful series? Do you think he can finish the last two books before the HBO show catches up to him? If not, what will happen to the show? Cancelled? Move along with Martins direction... and finish it out that way? What if Martin dies? Ahhhhh!

Watch it because its awesome
AFFC was still a pretty damn good book and ADWD was a return to form. Was it as good as SOS? Well no but what other book have you ever read that is?

Yes. I don't know what wonderful series means, but I believe he will tie up most things. I am almost certain unless he dies he will have the next one done before the HBO series catches him. I'm not sure about the last. I believe the show will go on if he doesn't. He has already told a couple of people involved with the series what ultimately happens in a general sense.

For a little reference I'm 1/4 of the way through adwd. I think that books will be worth finishing. If you've gotten through the fourth book then you might as well continue. On the positive side for the future of the series I think that the 4 th book was necessarily the worst in a 7 part series. It has to connect the first three books to last three. It in turn spends more time setting up the rest of the story than entertaining.
On thr negative side for the future of the series to me it just seems like the weight of the information in the series has become a little too much. It's unnecessarily extensive. Having to break the 4th and 5th books up is a symptom of this. It just makes the series drag a bit.
As for the series actually being finished, I have a gut feeling that it will end like Herbert's Dune series. Martin will bring all the doubters back with an excellent 6 th book. He will get you interested in where things are going again. He'll end the 6 th book with a killer cliffhanger. Then he'll die before he finishes the series, leaving behind only a rough outline for the final book.

Read 4 and 5. You'll thank me when you're done.

Wouldn't go as far as to say that.
Could do without the sexual fantasizing on his part.

I put adwd way ahead of clash of kings and in the re read i would put affc above it as well.
A LOT of shite goes down in AFFC that you dont really realize until the re read.
