Interesting pick, however if season 3 is on par with season 2, then the show (as a whole) doesn't rank that high all time.
However, if season 3,4,5? are up there with season 1 then yes season 2's shitty plot wholes and storylines(Dana) drop this below the top tier.

Friday Night Lights (Season 2)
I have no idea what you're talking about with Season 3 of the Shield. SEason 3 is still better than 99% of cable programming

Seasons 3, imo, kept The Shield out of the Mount Rushmore of Cable TV's "Golden Age".

I think they could have done more with the Pirate King arc, but I liked it a lot and may contain my favorite episode with the Diner Party. Granted I do think Season 2 is slightly better, but I think it's superior to the first season. So it doesn't qualify.

Yeah they ran away from the Pirate King arc quickly, I was hoping David Cross would have been recurring. Which I guess is sort my issue with Season 3, they have introduced some great foils for Archer yet we didn't seem the return to the fold yet. Secondly, I wasn't a big fan of the much hyped Burt Reynolds episode.
Oh and "Tears of Emrampagement" is the best episode they ever did.
