Said plenty of times that this movie should be a shoe in for at LEAST an Oscar nomination that it probably won't get(It's not a dull "unique" movie like Les Miserables). Probably the best performance I've seen JGL in and that says ALOT since he is amazing in all of his roles.

Me too. I am assuming his TK powers had a lot to do with it. Evidently he ain't that bad of a guy in the future, if Joe kills himself defending him.

He was amazing in Premium Rush and GI Joe, that's for sure.

Just watched it last night and loved it. Different concept, which is exciting.

I liked it. Two things annoyed me, though: 1. The girl re-loaded her shotgun about 10 times, presumably for the sound effect. Why not just keep one in the chamber? 2. It could've been better without the TK nonsense. I mean, why not just have a really smart kid who grows up to be the crime-lord?

He took control of all five of the major crime families in the future, and he started closing all the loops.

To me the ending wasn't predictable b/c I thought they would have followed some logic in the time travel aspect. . . I was kinda pissed at how big the plot holes were.
Can you explain this? I didn't really notice any plot holes with the time travel.

A movie about time travel and this is what you have a problem with?

He certainly was a bad guy in Old Joe's world... the news report clip showed a city that he had leveled.

That little kid was freakishly good in that role.

In time travel you either have a separate, parallel timeline, or you har a single timeline. Looper suggests you have both, and they weave in and out of them constantly.

How could he have figured out the exact day when it hadn't happened yet,. I'll grant you he knew 30 years and could have made precautions, but I got the impression he was trying to avoid them.
I think you're all missing it. Maybe I'm wrong, but my impression was this: Prior to the Rainmaker, a Looper could count on a 30 year retirement from the date of killing his old self. AFTER the Rainmaker, a Looper could not. The Rainmaker was closing all the loops, regardless of the 30 year timeline. That's why all the Loopers were closing out and Joe was pretty much the only one left. Don't you understand? Old Joe couldn't have predicted when his loop would be closed because the Rainmaker was having all the loops closed as soon as possible.

They tried to make sure the audience didn't get all caught up in the time travel paradoxes by dismissing it between the two Joes. When they 1st sit down at the diner to talk old joe says he isn't there to answer time travel bull shite questions. I guess that was the director trying to make sure you didn't get hung up on the wrong parts of the story.
Exactly. The intention is for the audience to completely avoid discussing any time travel/looping issues and just take the movie for what it is. The biggest problem with this is that the movie is entirely based around time travel and thus you cant discuss the movie without discussing the inherent flaws with the time travel plot. This is a "loop" in itself I'm not sure it's possible to create a movie about time travel that makes sense bc time travel really doesn't make sense. I liked the movie, it was very entertaining and I thought the kid did a great job.

Exactly. I've seen the threads on here about Back To The Future and you could bang your head against a wall reading them.

On the screen it showed "year 30" whenever he was taken.
