The key to winning is setting a number before beginning that you will stop at for both winning and losing IMO even if up if you keep playing you will give it back at some point

This is me every single time. I've probably been to a casino 200-300 times in my life and I left up exactly one time! Almost every time I went I was up at one point but then I would want to win a lot and would end up losing it. The only time I ever was able to walk away up was when I got to $5000 up.

I try to do this but never have the willpower,

I can't believe no one has come here raving about the martingale strategy yet. I've yet to see anyone try it in a casino, but if it happens I'll piss my pants. I still can't believe people ever bought into that.

The odds bet on the craps table is the only bet in the casino where the house has no advantage
Not true. The odds bet just reduces the house edge on the front bet. Since both bets are on the same event you have to consider them as one bet rather than two separate bets. And the house retains a methematical edge even if you make a 100X odds bet. For example let's assume you make a $5 pass line bet and the point is a 6. You back the bet with a $500 odds bet. You will be paid $605 if the point is made. However, the true odds for winning the bet would require you be paid $610. The house's edge is $5 divided by $610, or approximately 0.82%. It's not quite even, but it is the best bet you will find in the casino other than being able to count cards in blackjack. Many casinos set the hold on high limit slots at less than 1%, but usually those are the $100 slots.

I use that all the time. Not a true martingale, but increasing bet size until I bust. Can't due a true martingale playing BJ due to doubles and splits, but I use it all the time. And last year, I would go to a casino about once or twice a week to meet up and start the night off with a few free drinks and a little entertainment from like 8-10pm before everybody got out to the bars/clubs. My martingale would involve taking in $1-$2k and trying to win $200-$400. Once I got up that amount, I would quit or go from a $25-$50 table to a $10 table. Result is win few or several hundred 3-4 nights out, lose it all one night out. Overall you lose no matter what. The Martingale is fun for me, but it doesn't really matter. No system works due to gambler's fallacy, which about every system is based on to an extent. The Martingale especially.

This is pretty worthless now. I can count cards using a high/low system. However, the tables at the Hardrock here in South Florida use 8 deck shoes and shoes that are infinite (machine shuffled constantly as the dealer deals). There are a few tables there that are 2 decks, but BJ pays 6/5 instead of 3/2 to make up for it and they are only $10 tables (Hardrock is mostly $25-$50 tables with a HR room of $100-$500 tables). Also at each 8 deck shoe, the cards are shuffled and the shoe ends when it gets down to about half a deck. Pretty much the same when I was playing in Vegas this year as well.

They are just glad he doesn't live down here and won't come in and clean them out. I swear, that Hardrock makes BANK. It is packed to the gills every weekend. There are a few dozen bars and clubs around it and it is a huge indoor/outdoor party scene with some high end restaurants and shopping (like Hugo Boss, Chanel, etc). Something for everyone there including constant events, concerts, MMA, etc. It has turned into the biggest single entertainment complex in all of South Florida in less than a decade and goes at it 24/7. Also has a kick arse high limit room for table games and poker. No other casino in SF is anywhere as nice. People get liquored up and pass through the casino on the way out and drop a few hundred non fricking stop. On the weekends, all the $25 tables are slammed so at about 10pm they convert half of them to $50 a hand, but people don't care and will constantly sit down at a $50 table with their last $100 bucks of the night to give away. Probably one of the most profitable casinos in the country as even the high limits room stays crowded up to $500 a hand.
