I did not see the episode but what you describe is one of the reasons I stopped watching the show in the second season. Just bad news after bad news. Too depressing. It got really old.

They are referring to the Christmas special that just aired on Christmas day in UK for the finale of season 3. You don't want to know anything about it if you've only seen season 2. Season 3 begins airing in the US in January.

that was really depressing... i don't understand where this show is going...i had a feeling something bad was gonna happen with how sappy the conversation with matthew and mary was.
