Me neither and I think that's the point I've been trying to make. They've got their own reasons for dressing that way. I wouldn't put them down over it.
For me personally, I would never wear that to a wedding but to each their own.

That's true, my sister has been in Denver for 12 or so years. She said that people wear jeans to job interviews and it's perfectly acceptable.
Like you said, it's all relative.
imho, if I was a guy, I'd still wear a suit to a wedding

It stated explicitly in the invitation. It was a luau with roasted pig and all kind of fun stuff. Lasted all day, great time. They were handing out those oversized Polynesian shirts for those who wanted them

I've been told that I was overdressed for an interview before.
I interviewed a guy a couple of weeks ago who put "I am a Ninja, and I can shoot fire from my hands" on his special skills section of the application
I think he was serious.
