Such measures are extreme.... And if someone really wanted to do they could at start or end of school when everything is open because kids are reporting/leaving classes. No way to make it 100% safe

I do not like that a survivor is testing these waters. Especially when there is probably an aggregate on the insurance policy covering the school's liability. What a crap thing to do from a strategy/PR standpoint when there are legitimate death claims. It's like spitting on the memories of the dead.

So does this mean i can sue a tv station because i hear foul language and violence on the TV? Cause that is was the POS are doing. Their kid was in a room and heard some cussing on the intercom and gunshots? I hope they don't get a dime. I have no problem with a parent of a child who died, or a child who actually witnessed this horrible act getting money, but this is freaking ridiculous.

This is about as surprising as the sun coming up in the morning. I guess I kind of expected it to be a little farther down the road and done by the bitter parents of a dead kid, though. The fact that it's already happened and from the parents of a kid asleep in their house tonight is fricking disgusting and they deserve to die in a fire for being such horrible people looking to make a buck on the bodies of dead kids.

Not exactly an open and shut case for the plaintiff. Proving whether or not a craze gunman entering a school and opening fire at random was foreseeable may be difficult. ETA: an elementary school, at that

Does this set precedent if the family wins for families to sue for any type of shooting that happens in public building?

Depends on the situation.. it will definitely be used as primary authority in the state of Connecticut, meaning that if the family wins, in the case that another school shooting were to happen in that state (depending upon the facts of the shooting), the Connecticut courts would be bound to follow this decision. If it were to happen in another state, this decision could only be used as persuasive authority, meaning the courts wouldn't be bound to follow the decision, although it may weigh heavily in influencing the court.

The lawsuit sounds like complete bullshite, but this is quite possibly the dumbest analogy I've seen on this board in a while.
