I have both, but still cant figure out when to use one over the other. Ive just been using Hoppes until I figure out what Remoil does differently, if anything
Rem Oil to oil it up
Q-tips to spread out the Rem Oil and make sure there isn't too much on anything
Cycle it a bunch and run Q-tips over it again
I am not sure what is "better" about other cleaners. Hoppe's cleans all of the stuff I need cleaned. Also not sure what is better about other oils than Rem Oil. It oils stuff up and lasts long

Thats exactly what I do, except try to use a cotton tshirt to wipe with. Wife bought me a couple packs of the wrong size and I openned them the other day so I have a fresh supply
I hear a lot of hate on rem oil, even on here, but I cant help but wonder what people are doing that are havign trouble with it. Maybe putting too much since its in an aerosol can? I always spray it on my cloth then wipe it on. Then get a clean one and wipe away excess.

Is there a need to get the Hoppe's #9 solvent off of the barrel and gun parts besides just wiping it off. I always just run patches and wipe everything down, then oil what needs to be oiled. I just want to be sure it's okay to just wipe away the solvent without cleaning it off with something else. Don't want to be messing up the finishes on any of my guns

Hoppe's also has a lubricating oil that I use on choke tube threads.
The knock on Rem-Oil is the teflon. I think it burns and can get gummy. I have not had this happen in my SX2 though.
