What just happened in the stock market?

The DJ was down almost 100 points and within a minute and a half it rallied to being down only 30 points.
I'm watching CNBC and the talking heads on there are oblivious to this flash rally. I searched all the business sites and no word from them either.
WTF???

There was an announcement about a meeting at the WH this afternoon on the fiscal cliff but that announcement was more than an hour before the flash rally happened, so I don't think that could be it.

Same thing that happened yesterday. If anything, I find it supportive that the market dips 1% and institutions see buying opps. To me that = fair market value.

CNBC just said a 'new offer' from Obama was extended this morning to Bohner on the FC although no details were released other than it was a stop-gap, short-term fix to give them more time for a 'permanent' fix.
Crap! They've had over 6 months and an election to come up with something!
I wish the cliff law contained a provision that no elected federal official can draw a salary after 1/1/13 until a 'permanent' cliff resolution is passed.
