Yes I have gandhi-hopped ever since Halo:CE. It is actually quite effective in Halo 4. I love hearing kids rage in the post game menu about my hopping after I repeatedly out BR/DMR them.
Btw for those of you that don't know the hop/squat (aka "gandhi hop") was first popularized in Halo:CE by the professional gamer gandhi. It wasn't very effective in Halo 3 but is quite effective in Halo 4.

I used to get pissed at it as well, but then I realized it's equivalent of saying "sit still while I shoot you".

I only hop when I feel like I need to, like when I have to get around a corner or get out of an area that's getting overrun. It works in BF3 to help me get out alive, but I don't really find myself doing it in CoD.

I'd love for you to prove this to me in-game. Halo 4's mechanics are nothing like 3's or even 2's. In 3 you were better off randomizing your strafing and mixing in a side hop every once in a while. However, in Halo 4, jumping actually increases your velocity and the squat-hopping royally fricks with the opponent's sticky aim for some reason. I rarely lose a 1v1 against opponents with equal DMR/BR skills who don't implement hop-squatting.

Why is it gay to jump when I shoot?! I'm not sure I follow the logic?
I don't understand people who complain about drop shotting or jump shotting?! It works. I use it. I am heads and shoulders better than 99 percent of the people here so perhaps you should either jump or drop or strafe or fricking something other than running straight at your opponent guns a blazin'.
I hate people who whine.
