I know they are largely known for that song and a few others in the decade, but they were/are a great band...
Do yourself a favor and buy their records, if you dont already own them... great stuff. Neil Finn's solo records are very good, too...

No.
But it's a good song.

What do you think the ultimate 80's jam is?

Neil Finn's work in Split Enz was much better.

Where does one apply the word 'jam' to that song?
Split Endz >> Crowded House > Neil Finn

Pretty much an impossible question because it's 100% opinion. But I'll provide a few of my favorites (with little to zero thought).
Clash - Rock the Casbah
Cult - Rain
INXS - Suicide Blonde
Tears for Fears - Everybody Wants to Rule the World
So many to list, but i'll leave it short.

That's kind of what I was thinking. It's definitely a great sing-along and quintessential 80s track but I don't hear a jam.

Fall At Your Feet and Four Seasons In One Day are good songs of CH.

Love that whole album, honestly.
But when I think 80s, I think cheese like "Take On Me" by a-ha.
