Lakers still win 118-115 in OT.

The man likes to shoot

Theunknownnight should be here shortly.

Let's guess his angle:

1. Kobe only shot so much so the other guys would be open bc the other team wouldn't expect them to shoot.

2. Kobe shot so much to wear down the other team so his teammates could score easier.

3. Kobe shot so much bc his form is so pretty it would inspire his teammates to be better players.

... I'm sure there are more reasons...

I love how the media makes a big deal about his PPG but fail to mention his percentage or attempts

Yea they made NBA 2k13 so realistic that when Kobe gets the ball, the pass button doesn't work.

Well he was shooting a career high 48% coming into this game, so this performance is rare

Have you ever seen a player with worse hands than Fetus Ezeli? He had 6 turnovers but so many more dropped rebounds. I don't understand how you let a player like that play in the 4th quarter of a close game?

Points from offensive rebounds are scored from Kobe's missed shots at a far higher % than any other players. It's so high that even when he shoots 40% the team scores on 60% of the possessions where he shoots. People don't know shite like this about Kobe. It's not a metric the league measures but its a BIG fricking deal and it shows why Kobe is still the best offensive player in the game.

Not... Sure...If...Serious

But it's totally because he's so precise that his misses land so soft (and the defenders stare in utter shock that he missed) that his own guys can get the rebound and uncontested putback

I know it sounds ridiculous but I just read this LONG article where a basketball writer broke it down. It was CRAZY how far ahead of other players he was. It's like he sees where people will be in position to rebound and if he misses its either long or short depending on where they have rebounders and the rebounders of his shots score like 85% of the time. He went back years and compared him to everyone and every single year Kobe was way ahead. It's a crazy stat but it really showed how valuable his shots were.

exactly. years ago when Jordan was fading out the media knew they needed to find another "Jordan" to help sell the game worldwide and they chose Kobe Bryant. he is arguably the most overrated star player of all time in any professional sport.

great player, but extremely overrated. the Lakers were absolutely nothing special before Shaq, went to shite without him during those two and a half seasons while Kobe was the main guy, then Gasol comes to town and the Lakers are great again immediately and Kobe received 100% of the credit.

I like how you fail to mention that he was shooting 48% before this game on the season.

He has been excellent this season so far.

Sometimes people on this site get too hard over efficiency when someone has to put up the production. Obviously 41 shots is stupid, but it would also be dumb if teams just pandered to their most efficient players because then their efficiency would likely plummet.
