I'm willing to bet that most of yall are not aware of this incident, but we are up here, especially since this happened about 40 miles from our house. The national media is not saying a word about it, though, especially in light of today's debate and the NRA's press conference. Cliff's notes version is: Armed gunman enters Central High School with loaded weapons and is confronted by armed school resource officer. They both have guns drawn on each other in a Mexican stand off. Other law enforcement arrives and shoots gunman immediately. No kids or teachers are hurt or shot at by gunman. If not for an armed school resource officer, kids and teachers would be dead. Fact, Jack. Gonna post on the PT board, also. LINK

Perfect example of why if this happens in the south, it turns out very differently.

Only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

I can't figure out why libs have so much trouble with simple logic.

Can I ask why didn't the resource officer shoot him? She had several opportunities to lay him down while he was distracted. No way I let him hold me at gunpoint if I had my weapon drawn also.

I can't answer that question. My impression was that she was trying to calm him down before shooting? And apparently it was working, but when other law enforcement arrived, he raised his weapon again and pointed it at the resource officer and that's when the other law enforcement deputies shot him dead.

Yeah, no telling what was being said during the standoff. But one of my biggest concerns about armed officers at schools is the fact that they need to be trained at the highest level. That officer should have shot him to protect herself and the rest of the school. If the gunman would have really wanted to shoot, she would have been a liability and she just agitated him by drawing her weapon on him. Still, props to her for being brave.
