Yep, that's the only reason why people hate him.

They don't hate him for signing a max offer from Phoenix, they hate him for acting like a fricking bitch, begging the Hornets not to match even though we have a brighter future, being more interested in college basketball than the Hornets, and having a very shady injury that doctors couldn't even explain.

Anyone think there is ANY getting around this right now? This sums it up perfectly IMO.

Injuries or not, the whole time he has been in NOLA seems shady and misleading.

are you saying it is not part of the reason?

what the hornets front office did was sound economics. eg acted as if he doesn't understand what restricted free agency is

he essentially said he doesn't want to play for new orleans and not to match. his perspective is pretty stupid when you know there is a 99.9% chance they will match and you will be stuck playing for the city and team you basically just told you don't like them.

You mean like the injury diagnosed by a professional in Chicago with no incentive to lie that he's almost done rehabbing? Or the other injury that everyone agreed on except our medical staff, causing distrust in our organization and the resultant tensions in the offseason?

frick, man. It's like no sufficient amount of information could come out for any of you to change your mind.

How so? He acted like he was disrespected by the Hornets in some manner when they handled it exactly as any other team would have in that situation. The big benefits of restricted free agency are in either being able to hold onto the obvious max-level players (like AD will be for us) or being able to pay exactly what the market value of the possibly non-max players, like Gordon. There was literally NO benefit in coming out of the gate and offering Gordon a max.

exactly. and loyalty is a two-way street

the hornets weren't bending over backwards to help him and he wanted to go get a max deal where he could. he went and did that by flirting with phoenix. he ultimately got his max deal

and i dont remember his specific comments, but i remember them being more pro-phoenix than anti-new orleans. the comment about wishing they didnt match was silly, but it can be construed as being pro-phoenix
