re: Justin Williams(baseball)

quote:

Ok, i have to stop you there. Justin was ejected against CL at CL because he was Terrebonne's best player (and the best player on the field)...what did he do to get ejected? He stood next to his mother on the sideline.

Williams incited all of this from the play when his touchdown got called back. He's lucky he didn't get ejected on that play for yelling at the refs. Then every play after that he would give a little extra shove and jawing and that's what escalated the tension.

quote:

The ONLY other dicipline problem he had was earlier that year ED White players were tackling him (well trying at least) after the whistle....he never went down but pushed a kid off of him .....That was an iffy ejection...but I can agree with it.

So Ejected vs CL, Ejected vs EDW, Ejected vs ST... ST one may have been his freshman year. When he was ejected for the CL game it was his 4th or 5th since his freshman year. Those damn refs just had it out for him huh?

quote:

By NO means is he a discipline problem. He is a good old country boy.

quote:

Wow. Didn't realize he had character issues like you are saying.

I've seen a ton of bayou area football and he played with more of a bad attitude than anyone I've seen other than one, and that other one played for us and was kicked out of that CL/Tbonne game too.

I'm not saying he's some terrible kid or anything. Plus how he was on the football field isn't indicative of how he is in the classroom or on a baseball field.

What I am saying is coming off his sophomore year when he would have had to transfer to be eligible for his senior season after sitting out a year. He was coming off a football season where he was ejected 2-3 times? following a freshman season where he was ejected 2-3 times. A baseball season where he was good but nowhere near what he's projected to be now, he really exploded his junior season hitting over .600. Add grades that wouldn't have gotten him into EDW/Vandy if he weren't an athlete and I don't think either would have taken a chance on him. When is the last time you can remember a Vandy/EDW player being ejected? in anything?

re: Justin Williams(baseball)

quote:

Although he received major attention from pro scouts at the national games, Williams, who is ranked in the Top 5 of most national high school baseball recruiting lists for 2013, said he still plans to honor his verbal commitment to LSU, even though there is a good chance he could hear his name called in the early rounds of the Major League Baseball draft next year. He said he will discuss his future plans with his family when that time comes, but as for now, he's planning to join the Tigers. "I want to get an education," Williams said. "I'm not going to play baseball forever. Every baseball player needs something to fall back on. They have pro players who have millions of dollars, and they are set for life. I'm not there yet, so I have to start planning ahead."
Haven't read the whole thread, but this quote is nothing more than Williams maintaining contract leverage.

Decent. He is hitting close to .370 something with like 4 or 5 bombs. Good numbers considering he is using a wooden bat but I thought they would be a little better. Look at some of the studs in HS and they are hitting .600 with 10hrs

What studs? You mean some national players? If that's what you mean then maybe so. I don't know of any LA kids doing this against good competition. I also know a lot of these high schools inflate statistics. Batting average has to be one of the most exaggerated high school statistics because of what different people score a hit. I have seen some ridiculous record keeping over the years.

re: Justin Williams(baseball)

He was ejected once in his high school football career... One ejection held up.

PS I have seen an entire Vandebilt basketball team asked to leave the court in the playoffs... I've also seen ED White get flagged once and Terrebonne get 22 in last year's football game... At ED White.... The coaches even agreed it was wrong and the head of the Thibodaux association even called and apologized.

I could go on...

re: Justin Williams(baseball)

I'm certainly not counting on him showing up on campus. Can't say I blame him. If I could sign a million dollar contract right out of high school, I sure would have. If you truly care about education, nothing that says you can't go back to school at any time, and a University isn't the only place that you can get educated either. But why risk injury playing for free when you can set yourself up financially for the rest of your life while taking the most direct route possible to living your dreams of playing in the big league?
