Cool.. I remember back in the late 90s he had a standing gig every Sunday night at the Continental Club... we'd stay across the street at the Austin Motel... Those were good times in Austin...
I lived in Austin in the early 80s, and hung out there on weekends in mid-70s while at Ft. Hood. I remember the Continental Club. Lots of great local and regional punk bands back then. My favorite local band was The Skunks, of Cheap Girl fame. I saw them on many Saturday nights around the Austin club scene.

Does anyone remember the Armadillo World Headquarters for concerts back in the day, or am I the only old geezer that does?

I cried at a concert before. Where, when and what for is my business.

re: Songs/performances that move you to tears

Story time. So I went with a girl I had been dating to a John Mayer show at the Wharf in Gulf Shores. She was a crazy John Mayer fan and I was 'meh'. Didn't even own a single song he'd ever recorded. I wasn't expecting much, I knew some of his songs but only the popular ones.

He stood up on that stage, and what spewed forth was some of the most amazing, soulful guitar playing I have ever heard. He was tripping balls I later learned, but I pretty much listened to him make love to his guitar and I would kill to hear it again.

Gravity was a 3 minute song. He added a 10 minute guitar solo that almost (Read: Definitely) made me cry.

The U2 performance at the Super Bowl when they scrolled the names of the 9/11 victims on the screen. That one got me.

Bela Fleck & the Flecktones - Sunset Road

When I saw them at the House of Blues in N.O. last year, it was pretty much a religious experience.

John Boutte sang Ave Maria a few weeks ago at St. Augustine Church. Beautiful. I was at Jazz Fest also the year after Katrina, and saw Springsteen. Yeah - man enough to admit that I cried.

Amazing piece of music right there.

I'd have to say the only time I remember crying at a live performance was when I saw Pierce Pettis sing Stickman.

I don't think any performances have until I saw Pearl Jam this year at Music Midtown. There were several moments mainly because it was my first time to see them.

Black gets me a lot when I hear it. My son went to the show with me, and I would hold him up during his favorite songs. I was holding him on my side during Black, and we sang the "I know someday you'll have a beautiful life....." part to each other. I know that I had tears streaming by that point.

An even better version of Cat Power "Metal Heart" than the one I usually post.
