Mil-spec is really just a minimum standard, Carpenter 158 bolts are mil-spec and generally are wonderful bolts. I believe LMT and maybe KAC uses a different material called Aermet 100 which is supposed to be 50% tougher than C158 bolts. BCM uses C158 steel and those are really popular, but BCM also has very strict QC on everything they produce so that adds to the package.
