Anyone familiar with GECO 55gr 5.56? Picked up 100 rounds for a not terribly outrageous price.

I’ve got a case of it, haven’t shot any yet. Saw an accuracy review on it (Molon, very detailed), and it’s stupid accurate for what it is. Close to MOA for the .223 and just a little worse for the 5.56 load. That’s from memory so I might be off a bit, but that review is why I bought a case.

Does anyone know what the correct torque spec is for a castle nut on a carbine length buffer tube? ARMY TM 9-1005-319-23&P says that the spec is 40 FOOT-lbs when torquing a rifle length buffer tube but then says 40 INCH-lbs for the castle nut on a carbine tube. Consensus online seems to be that this is a typo and 40 ft-lbs is correct. Can someone confirm this?

Just get it tight.

If you want to stake knock yourself out. If you don't it won't hurt anything either unless you are really running the gun hard, then it may come loose but just tighten it back up.

It's definitely ft-lbs, but the above is correct. Despite what you read on gun forums, you won't die if your castle nut isn't torqued with a calibrated torque wrench and staked with a mil-spec approved punch. Odds are you'll never even notice, but Loc-tite is a good alternative if you're really concerned about it and aren't sure about staking.

Help guide me on my first AR. Iam looking at the rockriver RRAGE LAR-15. I like the look of the longer rails that cover most of the barrel and definitely want 5.56/223. Is Rock River as reputable as I have them in my head? Any other manufactures I should look at? Trying to stay around $900. hoping to get the best bang for the buck with quality and price.

That's a loaded question, but if you don't want to dive in too deep to the AR world, and it sounds like you don't, then what you're looking at is fine. Buy a complete rifle from Ruger, Rock River, S&W or other reputable manufacturer, shoot it and see what you like (or don't) about it. A complete rifle will sell easier than one you pieced together if you decide it just doesn't interest you.

so, im having one built and my buddy has decided on a la rue trigger.....the ratings seem overly complimentary.

What say you?

Also, I do plan to meet with him for assembly as the next will be my project.

Sure Fire War Comp, do I really need the Rock Set? I'm not planning on going to war. It's torqued to spec and exactly at BDC, I don't want to take it off and repeat.

Moderate time lurker here - new AR owner. I bought one of their rifles and just picked it up from the FFL yesterday. Looking forward to shooting it, but hate that ammo is hard to find.

Any tips on accessories (budget friendly if possible) are welcome.
