I didn't read all 6 pages, but I'll add in what I know about ARs.

Bookmark Palmetto State Armory. They make good parts and good rifles.

A $700 rifle will perform and shoot as good as the most expensive Noveske. You decide how much money to waste on a name and rollmark when buying an AR.

Railed handguards...they are aluminum and cut to a certain spec. A $50 UTG rail will hold a flashlight the exact same as a $400 DanielDefense.

A quick google search reveals that Noveske lowers go for about $180 and Spike's Tactical sell for $80. They are the exact same lower, both manufactured by LAR Manufacturing, the only difference is the rollmark (logo) on the side.

Pmags are not the only option. C-Products makes a great mag that uses the same follower as the Pmag and they can be had for $7ish dollars last time I purchased. I use both and have never had any problems with either.

This is the only lower parts kit you should ever buy. It saves you the trouble of having to swap out the shitty stock and grip later.

Never ever EVERRRR buy an AR15 with an A2 upper. You may not mind it now, you may even think it looks super sweet, but eventually you will wish it wasn't there. This will probably lead to a late night of drinking. Your wife will find you the next morning passed out in the garage with a dremel in one hand and the carry handle in the other.

When taking pictures of your new AR15 always remember to have the magazine inserted. Nothing looks uglier and more incomplete than an AR missing it's mag.

Keep It Simple Stupid. If you are going to put a a 4-14x40mm scope as your primary optic you do not also need a flashlight. Unless is some super fricking spotlight it will do no good illuminating your target at 200 yards and will give you away. Likewise, if you are going to have a red dot and a fore grip there is no need for a bipod. It looks stupid and out of place.

Get a BAD lever from magpul, one hand operation is awesome.

Good quality budget optics

Lastly, owning an AR15 does not make you an operator. You will never use it in a combat setting. Your primary enemy will be paper and pigs and your squad will be grossly overweight rednecks in mismatched mossy oak camo from Walmart. You will also not shoot is near as much as you think because the 30 round capacity magazines coupled with $0.25 cents per round will be the reason for your divorce. So, keep that in mind when deciding on which AR15 to buy or which components manufacturer to patronize.

Lafayette Shooters had at least 6 or 8 AR's still in the rack today. I think most were Bushmasters. I know I saw a Sig and maybe a Colt.

Does anyone know if I will be able to get a bolt carrier group if the laws are changed?

You should never have a problem getting a bcg. Gunbroker, slick guns(ar section), guns america, etc should have them. Most people freaking out right now are buying complete rifles I would assume.
