I might end up doing that, and I would appreciate all the help and advice the OB gives.

Put both of mine together with only a taped up set of channel locks. And a long flathead for the pistol grip screw.

I just wasn't sure if I would need any special punches or something for the pins.

The 2 pins for the trigger group and hammer go right in with finger pressure as long as everytging is lined up. The trigger guard and bolt catch pins are the 2 i used the channel locks on. Just have to tape em up good so you dont scratch the hell outta your receiver. By far the only tricky part of assembly is the takedown pivot spring and detent.

What about an upper? Sounds like that's harder... Don't you need a vice?

Just buy a complete upper, no assembly required

I really wish those bastards would put an extra detent in those packs

We used a razor blade to hold it down last time while we slid the pin right over the razor and detent.

Gotta question. My lower I just put together has a problem... The trigger guard protrudes into the mag slow a hair too much and makes the magazines fit tight as shit, a metal mag doesn't even go in. Would changing my trigger guard fix this or is the lower just off?

I hold the receiver between my knees and feed the largest allen that'll fit through the pivot hole through there with my left hand. Hold the detent down with a finger nail on my right and slide the allen over it. Then i just push the pivot pin against the end of the allen and slide it until the detent engages. Probably easier ways to do it but this works great for me

I would venture to guess its the trigger guard, what kind is it?

I dont even want to imagine what would/will happen with that. Isn't MO trying some sort of confiscation/self turn in legislature?
