Opinions on polymer lowers?

I can get one for $90, in stock. Thinking about going with it until the panic settles and then upgrading.

I'd stay away from polymer lowers.

If I buy that LPK will it work with a complete .308 upper?

Ok. I'll probably just build another 223/5.56 then. I would like to do a full length upper rather than another carbine though.

I have no clue. You have an AR-10 lower? I think it will work, but can't hurt to call or email PSA and ask.

My AR-10 comes in today.

I should really be careful loading this one in the boat.

Why buy polymer. I bought 3 forged lowers this week. PSA and DSG Arms. Look at these sights from 10AM - 11AM everyday.

Says the guy rocking a plastic AR. Cavarms polymer lowers were good to go, that said I wouldn't build a gun on a polymer lower unless it was a strict plinking range toy.

No reason really, when there are some quality forged lowers popping up for less than $150. Just keep an eye out on here and here

Most people, especially in today's climate, use the AR platform for a home defense weapon. In my opinion I want quality components that are put through their paces.

And you can also find aluminum lowers for comparable prices to polymer with a little patience.

Buy once, cry once.

What are the pros to polymer in your opinion?

Not sure you realize it but some people in here are LE and can carry the weapons they are building, and some of us intend to do some pretty significant training and firing regimens with the weapons we are building.

That being said, poly lowers is a pure opinion choice, some like em, some dont. This argument has come up a few times in this thread, no reason to derail it again.

An AR for home defense? Silly.

90% of people who own AR 15s use them for plinking. I dont know a soul who would use one for home defense.

Pros: CHEAP and available.

Why else are we stacking up on 63 mags in the gun cabinet with thousands of rounds of ammo?

If someone breaks in my house an AR15 is the last thing I am reaching for.

How is this even debatable?

re: Official AR-15 thread

Your 90% comment is trash, no offense.

An SBR AR with a can is in my opinion ideal for home defense. Actually, 5.56 penetrates fewer layers of dry wall then 9mm lowering the potential for unintended hits.

I appreciate your opinion but you should interject facts in your post. The post I responded to was related to polymer and have my opinion.
