Cool, I definitely get that Deftones isn't going to be exciting for everyone (heads up, no band is exciting for everyone), but Deftones is still pretty damn relevant and a great get for the Varsity

Yo Doc, what's the word on Jeff Mangum squeezing in a Baton Rouge date. I thought you mentioned somewhere in this thread it would be announced this week.

May be the dumbest thing said so far...

I was the first to call it in this thread. I should get free tickets or something.

They do get plenty of good acts, and i personally like the place, been there a few times. But the premier venue in Baton Rouge is The Varsity, and that's not gunna change.

To say that the spanish moon gets better acts then the varsity is just ignorant hipster ranting.

For quite a few years now, they do get the better acts... i think even Doc would admit that... The varsity is obviously a better venue in regards to facilities

I missed out on catching a show at Varsity the years I lived down there

That said, I did get Deftones at HOB, Tool in BR , and several years of very legit Voodoo while there

I've seen some great shows at the moon, and played there there several times myself.

It has some good bands there that a lot of people like: deer hunter, the xx, the Melvin's, Kevin Devine, the sword.. All come to mind.

But the varsity is 800 cap, and the moon is 300 cap (that's being generous)

And it's not even close.

However, I really like the moon as a venue because of the layout. The shotgun layouts are great for playing and great for watching

I go to the Varsity about once a year. Went twice this year and next year already has two shows I plan on going to so I guess that's an improvement.

Yeah I'll see them and Deftones. Clutch is announcing their spring tour soon. Would be really nice to see the Varsity on there.

Last band was Scars on Broadway so we can all be thankful for that.

300-400 is ideal, IMO. From a fan's perspective, anyways.
