Tour Star
Anyone ever use one, or something similar for that matter?
I have a couple older rods, the cork is starting to go to shite, was looking at other options, rather than replace the rod.
I remember seeing them at the Classic in Shreveport, if I recall correctly, the company was founded by one of the founders of All Star.
What say the OB?

Did not know they existed. Could tell they were Winn as soon as I saw them.

Seem a little expensive, but am curious to see how they feel. I don't like split grip rods, so maybe this is my next step when my cork falls apart.

Another option is shrink wrap grip material that can go over the old grips. Probably a good idea to fill any pits first before using the shrink wrap.

So you can cast 300 yards. What a joke.

Why are these a joke exactly?

Another useless accessory to rip you away from your money so you can appear salt life or bass life. Cork is a natural grip already. Why add weight and lose feel?

You can buy cork tape at most rod building shops. If your cork is not pitted, just sand it down. If it is, I'd try to rejuvenate the old pitted cork by mixing up some epoxy/flexcoat with ground up cork, filling in the gaps and sanding smooth after it dries.

I have sanded them a couple times, never tried fixing the pits, or cork tape. I figured eventually if I keep sanding, the cork would get too thin, thus I was looking at replacement grips.
FWIW though, I'm so bass life I have an Hds 8 in my truck for a GPS.
Not really.

You would have to sand down about half an inch of cork before you got close to the blank underneath.

Plus it looks golfy, so I naturally hate it

Dulac tomorrow. Should be good unless I lose grip on my rod and throw it out the boat
