Going there this weekend and looking for a good place to eat. Being from South Louisiana, seafood and "Cajun" (North Louisiana style) cuisine are not a must have, unless there is something really worth trying-meat pies dont impress me either. Were looking for ANY cuisine. We've been to the Momma's and Poppa's, Mariners, Pioneer Pub, and Merci Beaucoup. Open to any and all suggestions-TIA

Mama's is our usual haunt when in the Trash. But I would suggest you take a drive out to Clarence, probably 10 minutes, and go to Grayson's. It's not the best barbecue on the planet but it is still pretty damn good. The Landing is pretty solid, but I would not go for the brunch.

Also, Sea and Sirloin just opened up at the end of Front Street across from the Pioneer Pub. I would go for the sirloin rather than the sea, but its pretty good. The original is out in Campti so you will save yourself a drive.

French market bistro at the I-49 exit has killer corndogs and an Icee machine.

If you don't like meat pies, you're sort of out of luck. If you haven't had Lasyone's meat pies, you haven't had nearly the best. Other than the meat pies, there's nothing above average in Natchitoches. There are some decent restaurants.

The Landing is okay. If you're going at night, you might want to call for a reservation right away. The city is pretty crowded this time of year with the lights and I believe they do fireworks every Saturday night.

The one and only time I've eaten at Lasyone's I got sick as a dog after eating because the meat pies were so greasy.

Hmm...I've eaten them there and fried them at home. Never a problem. Love them.

It could be that I was there during the Christmas Festival and they weren't prepared properly with the rush of customers. I just haven't been able to eat a meat pie since and that was in 2008.

It's an underwhelming town to eat in, for sure. We have had some good luck with Hana on Front street though. Japanese place that does solid sushi and other dishes.

It won't knock your socks off, but it compares very well to Japanese places in bigger cities in Louisiana.

Grayson's as mentioned.

If you're there for dinner, maybe Mariner's. Their crawfish etouffee is great.
