if you won't be gone long get one of these garment bags, they hang up and keep your suite and dress shirts right and you don't have to check it.

I have to bring a suit on a flight this weekend for an interview on Monday. I forgot the suit cover when I packed up for Christmas break

I've never carried on a garment bag. Do they have somewhere on planes where you can hang those up? Or do you just have to fold it into the overhead?

no you put your clothes in there hanging up and then it folds nice and neat in place and then you put it in the carry on. the one i have has a place for your laptop and stuff too, good for a day trip or 2 at the most. my carry on has a suit folder in it also, you put your suite and hangups and then it folds into place and then you can put shoes and other stuff in the other part of the suitcase. but it doesn't work near as well as the garment bag for keeping everything in place. some people use these too, i perfer a garment bag LINK

Haha - yeah, I know how the garment bags work. I was just curious if I'd be able to hang it anywhere (I thought I had seen that on an airplane before but couldn't remember), or if I'd just have to put it in the overhead compartment.

That's right, forgot about that. That's a big reason why we went with that brand. Our bags get a lot of wear and tear

yep. i can't tell you the last time i traveled with a suitcase. i have cut way down on cotton--wear mostly wool and perf synthetics, incl ex officio underwear ("17 Countries. 6 Weeks. And 1 Pair"). of course, i never have to play dress-up so that helps.

I travel a decent amount and have used a travel pro roller bag off of luggageonline or some shite. Got it for 100 dollars and after going through hundreds of airports, it's still solid. Good brand that's not horribly expensive. Don't buy the package deals of 5 bags. Get one or two good bags if you do anything. You'll rarely use most of those bags. Especially ones not on rollers.

I don't, but I used it when I went on a ten day trip to Argentina. I like because the top and bottom can be separated, which makes it easier to reach stuff on the bottom. I also had enough room to bring back a few bottles of wine. ETA: Video Review of bag
